The Union of India is located in South Asia and is the 7th largest country in the world.   India’s climate is considered tropical monsoonal, as it is heavily influenced by the monsoons.  Known for its extensive human and natural resources, India is an economic powerhouse. –

The Indian festivals are unique and filled with a rich cultural experience.  Diwali represents the start of the Hindu New Year and is known as the “Festival of Lights”.  Holi is a two day festival coined the “Festival of Colors”, which welcomes in an abundant spring harvest season.   Colored powders and water are the hallmark of this celebration.  Both of these holidays represent the victory of good over evil.  Enjoy exploring more of India’s joyous festivals for this week’s word.
